Planning & ownership
An incentive estimate should relate to the system being quoted. Ask for the program name, eligibility assumptions and the amount applied to the written proposal rather than relying on a general savings headline.
Start with the federal scheme
The Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme supports eligible renewable energy installations through small-scale technology certificates. Many owners assign certificate rights to an agent in return for a discount. Your quote should show the treatment of those rights and the resulting adjustment clearly.
Check battery rules separately
Eligible battery installations may qualify under the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program, delivered through the SRES. Equipment, installer and installation requirements apply. Ask for a current calculation for the proposed configuration, including how usable capacity is treated.
Confirm state and project conditions
NSW, Queensland and Western Australia can have different programs and electricity arrangements. Check the official program terms before relying on an offer or combining incentives. Your ownership or tenancy, installation timing, equipment and prior claims may matter. Pylon will discuss the information needed for a project-specific quote.
Questions worth asking
Is a website estimate a confirmed rebate entitlement?
No. A general estimate cannot establish eligibility for a particular property or installation. Confirm the applicable rules and calculation before accepting a proposal.
Does adding a battery require a new solar installation?
The federal program can apply to eligible batteries connected to new or existing solar, subject to the current requirements. The existing system and proposed battery still need assessment.
