Plan the payment side of going solar

Questions to ask when comparing an outright solar purchase with payment or finance options, including fees, repayments and total cost.

A payment arrangement should be as clear as the equipment schedule. Ask Pylon which options are currently available for your project, then compare the full purchase cost and repayment terms before making a decision.

Compare totals, not only instalments

Request an outright purchase price alongside any financed offer. Compare the total amount payable, deposit, term and fees. Treat expected electricity savings as an estimate, rather than assuming they will always cover repayments.

Questions for the finance provider

  • Who is the credit provider?
  • What is the total amount payable?
  • Are there establishment, account or late-payment fees?
  • What happens when a promotional period ends?
  • Are early repayments permitted, and on what terms?

Understand an interest-free promotion

An interest-free period does not necessarily remove fees or later interest. ASIC’s Moneysmart explains the conditions to check. Availability and credit approval must be confirmed by the provider; a website enquiry does not establish approval or a particular rate.

Questions worth asking

Is finance guaranteed?

No. The available product and any approval are subject to the provider’s terms and assessment. Ask for the documents before relying on an advertised payment example.

Can I request a quote without applying for credit?

Yes. Tell us you want a system quote first. A product enquiry and an application to a finance provider are separate steps.
