Planning & ownership
Good solar decisions start with a clear brief. Before choosing equipment, write down what you want the system to do, which appliances are changing and what you need to understand before signing a quote.
Build a useful project brief
Gather recent electricity bills, your property address and any available interval usage data. Note roof repairs, shaded areas and planned renovations. Tell us whether an EV, electric cooking or a different hot-water system is part of the plan. This gives the design a better starting point than a single bill amount.
Ask for a design you can compare
- Panel layout, module count and exact equipment models
- Generation estimate with the assumptions explained
- Electrical, metering and connection work included
- Backup scope if storage is proposed
- Itemised price, payment stages and separate warranties
Keep the handover useful
Ask how you will receive system manuals, warranty information and monitoring access. Keep a copy of the accepted design, equipment schedule and commissioning documents. Before the installer leaves, make sure you know the support contact and where to find the manufacturer’s operating instructions.
Questions worth asking
Should I decide on a brand first?
A preferred brand is a useful starting point, but the equipment still needs to suit your roof, electrical supply and usage. Compare the complete design and scope.
