Battery storage
If a smaller battery is close to your needs, compare the usable energy and installed cost of nearby sizes. The most helpful proposal explains the difference for your actual evening routine.
- Storage size to compare
- 6kWh
- Power is a separate rating
- kW
- Usable energy and warranty
- Model-specific
Compare a little more storage without oversizing the design
Treat 6kWh as a comparison category, not a promise that every manufacturer supplies an identical unit. Your quote should identify the model, installed configuration and usable storage. The power rating in kW determines what the system can supply at a particular moment.
Make backup requirements explicit
Storage for everyday energy use and power during an outage require different design questions. List the circuits you would want backed up and ask which equipment, switching arrangements and operating limits are included. Ask how reserve settings affect the energy available for normal daily use.
Adding storage to existing solar
Provide the existing inverter model, installation date and monitoring information. The proposed design should explain compatibility, any extra inverter equipment and the required switchboard work. Discuss where equipment can be installed and how you will access system monitoring at handover.
Questions worth asking
Will 6kWh run my home all night?
Runtime depends on usable energy, reserve settings and the appliances running. Ask for an assessment using your actual loads; a capacity label cannot guarantee a number of hours for every home.
Will a battery automatically provide blackout protection?
No. Confirm backup capability and the supported circuits in the system design and written installation scope.
Can I claim a battery incentive?
Eligibility depends on the equipment, installation and current program rules. Request a separate written incentive calculation for the system being proposed.
